Signature
A composition, owned as one. Nine frames where the subject is placed and knows it, and where the face is never the brightest thing in the picture.

The direction.
( WRITTEN FIRST )One sculpted source per frame, and it always has an origin you can point at: a recessed window, a door open at sunrise, a shaft down a soi. Never two sources, never an unexplained one.
The face is never the brightest thing in the frame. The brightest thing is the silk under the shaft, or the slab of light on the wall behind the head. Faces are lit by bounce off pale stone and polished teak. That contrast is what makes it read as art photography rather than as a portrait.
Architecture and void. One diagonal, no guests, no furniture, almost no props. The empty space above the subject’s head is part of the composition, not room left over.
Low and frontal — at floor level, or at the foot of a staircase looking slightly up. Symmetry and deliberation, wide enough that the structure stays legible.
Held, composed, aware of the camera. No movement, no laughter in progress. The subject is placed, and the image admits it.
The set.
